Terms of Use

These Terms govern use of blackstarsecurity.net (the "Site"), operated by Black Star Security LLC ("BSS"), a Montana limited liability company. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

These Terms cover the website only. They are not an installation contract and they are not a monitoring contract. Paid work is governed by the signed estimate, statement of work, or monitoring agreement for that job.

1. What the Site is

The Site describes electronic security services, including cameras, access control, intercoms, intrusion systems, and monitoring. Content is general information. It is not a design, a quote, or advice for your property. A written estimate or agreement controls.

2. Quotes and prices

Prices on the Site, including "monitoring starting at $30," are starting prices for new residential installs. They are not a quote. The signed estimate is the price for an install. An installation estimate does not include monitoring unless a monitoring agreement is also signed.

3. Monitoring

Residential monitoring is offered only under the current Residential Monitoring Service Agreement and rate card. Service starts only after (1) that agreement is signed, (2) a successful test signal is received, and (3) any required alarm permit number is on file.

Alarm signals are handled by Becklar, LLC. App and camera features, when selected, are provided through Alarm.com. BSS bills the monitoring account. You are not billed by the station. For an alarm in progress, call the 24-hour center at (877) 206-9141. Station calls may display (801) 781-6101.

BSS and the central station are not insurers. We do not guarantee that no loss, injury, or damage will occur. Cellular, internet, and power paths can fail. A signal that never reaches the station cannot be processed. If BSS or its monitoring contractor is found liable for a loss related to monitoring, liability is limited to the greater of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) or six (6) times the monthly fee for that account at the time of the loss, as stated in the monitoring agreement. Keep your own property and liability insurance.

Takeover of an existing alarm system is not currently offered.

4. Acceptable use

You may view and print Site content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy it for commercial use, interfere with the Site, attempt unauthorized access, or use the Site for an unlawful purpose.

5. Intellectual property

Text, logos, images, and designs on the Site are owned by BSS or licensed to us and protected by U.S. copyright and trademark law.

6. Website disclaimer and liability

The Site is provided "as is," without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a purpose. For claims arising only from use of the Site, and not from a signed job or monitoring agreement, BSS liability is limited to $1,000. This website cap does not replace or raise the limit in a signed monitoring agreement.

7. Third-party links

The Site may link to other sites, including partner and review pages. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

8. Governing law

Montana law governs, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Flathead County, Montana. A claim related to monitoring must be brought within one year, as stated in the monitoring agreement.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use of the Site after a change is acceptance of the updated Terms.
